Terms of Use

Last updated: October 23, 2026

1. About these Terms

These Terms of Use govern the use of the Gratia app, maintained by PROSPER ASSESSORIA E TECNOLOGIA LTDA ("Prosper"), Brazilian company registration (CNPJ) 55.873.470/0001-51, based in Osasco/SP, Brazil. By using the app, you confirm that you have read and accept these Terms and the Privacy Policy, which is part of them.

2. Minimum age

Gratia is intended exclusively for people aged 18 or older with full legal capacity. By using the app, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, it may be closed and its data deleted.

3. Nature of the app

The app offers Catholic devotional content (reflections, prayers, examination of conscience, moral discernment) supported by generative artificial intelligence. It does not replace spiritual direction, sacramental Confession, pastoral counseling from a priest, or any form of professional psychological or medical care.

4. AI-generated content

Reflections and discernment answers are generated by artificial intelligence models guided to remain aligned with the Magisterium and Catholic doctrine, but they may occasionally contain inaccuracies. If in doubt about a question of faith or morals, always consult a priest or the Catechism of the Catholic Church. You can report any AI-generated content through the "Report content" option in the app.

5. Not a medical, psychological or emergency service

The app does not provide medical, psychological, psychiatric or emergency services, does not diagnose or provide clinical follow-up, and does not monitor what is written in real time. When a typed text indicates a risk to someone's life or safety, the app simply stops generating the answer and shows fixed guidance with help channels. The app does not contact these services or report the situation to third parties. In any emergency, contact your local emergency services or the nearest emergency room immediately.

6. Prohibited conduct

You may not use the app to: threaten, plan or incite violence against yourself or others; promote hate, discrimination or harassment; send illegal content; or try to manipulate, bypass or extract the app's instructions and artificial intelligence systems. When the app identifies such content, it stops the answer and shows fixed guidance. Serious or repeated violations may lead to suspension or termination of the account, without prejudice to applicable legal measures.

7. Account, Journal and Confession

By default, the app works with an anonymous account, without requiring an email or password. You can link an email to the same account at any time (Profile Menu > Profile & Account) to recover your saved reflections and your subscription when changing devices. The Spiritual Journal and Confession (date of your last confession, reminder and penitential notes) are stored only on your device and are never sent to our servers: for that reason, we cannot recover them. If Android backup is turned on in your Google account, it may move them to a new device; without a backup, uninstalling or resetting the app deletes them. The Journal can be exported at any time.

8. Subscriptions, cancellation and refunds

Some features are offered through a recurring subscription (Gratia Pro), monthly or yearly, billed by the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) and managed by RevenueCat. The free plan includes, to try the app, three Daily Encounter reflections and one Discernment question (in total, not per day), plus up to three saved reflections, the short examination of conscience, the Act of Contrition, the Confession log and sharing. Gratia Pro adds the Daily Encounter and Discernment day by day (up to 5 reflections and 15 messages a day, with a monthly limit of 90 reflections and 200 messages), natural voice narration (up to 3 a day and 60 a month), unlimited saved reflections, the Spiritual Journal, the full examination of conscience and the penitential notepad. The subscription is linked to the app account; the "Restore purchases" option recovers access if the app is reinstalled. The cancellation and refund rules are:

a) Free trial: when offered, you can cancel at any time during the trial and nothing will be charged.

b) First charge (with or without a free trial): you can request a full refund within 7 calendar days of the first charge of a plan, by email to support@appgratia.com or through the store itself. This reflects the right of withdrawal under the Brazilian Consumer Protection Code (art. 49) and does not limit any other right you have under the law of your country.

c) Renewals: you can cancel at any time in the store settings; cancelling stops future charges, and access continues until the end of the period already paid. There is no pro-rata refund of a period already started, unless guaranteed by law or by the store's policy.

d) App Store: for purchases made through Apple, refunds are processed exclusively by Apple under its own rules; we can guide the request but cannot issue it.

Once refunded, Gratia Pro features are no longer available. Deleting the account in the app does not cancel the subscription, which must be cancelled in the store. Anyone who stops subscribing can still read, export and delete what they have written.

9. Personal data and authorities

The processing of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy. Because it deals with faith content, information that reveals religious belief is sensitive personal data (Brazilian General Data Protection Law, Law No. 13,709/2018 — LGPD, art. 5, II) and is only processed with your specific consent. In compliance with the Brazilian Civil Rights Framework for the Internet (Law No. 12,965/2014), access records and personal data are only provided to authorities under a court order or when required by law.

10. Use of Biblical quotations

Gratia is not a digital edition or a full reader of the Holy Bible. The passages shown are limited to verses or brief excerpts, used as devotional references for prayer, always with the canonical reference (book, chapter and verse). Biblical texts come from Catholic translations in the public domain: Fr. Antônio Pereira de Figueiredo (Portuguese), Douay-Rheims, 1899 revision (English), and Félix Torres Amat (Spanish). The artificial intelligence never writes verses: it only chooses among previously selected passages.

11. Use of quotations and references to the Catechism of the Catholic Church

Quotations and references to the Catechism of the Catholic Church © Libreria Editrice Vaticana (LEV), used for formative and devotional purposes with reference to the official paragraph numbers. The app does not reproduce the full text of the Catechism: discernment answers summarize the teaching in their own words and indicate the corresponding official paragraph(s) (e.g. "CCC 2357-2359"), so you can consult the full text in the official edition.

12. Limitation of liability

The app is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, and without excluding the rights guaranteed by consumer protection law, we are not responsible for decisions made based on the app's content.

13. Changes

These Terms may be updated. Relevant changes will be communicated in the app and, when necessary, we will ask for a new acceptance.

14. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil. Disputes may be brought before the courts of the consumer's place of residence, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection rules of your country.
